Published studies regarding the relationship between homocysteine and depression.
Deplin® is an orally administered prescription medical food for the dietary management of suboptimal folate levels in depressed patients. L-methylfolate is known as a trimonoamine modulator (TMM) which boosts the synthesis of monoamine neurotransmitters (serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine). Deplin® is a first choice in depression augmentation with 7.5mg of L-methylfolate.
How does Deplin® work?
Deplin® works through a natural process within brain cells to correct an imbalance of the three important neurotransmitters that may be lacking. Deplin® is not an antidepressant, but may make your antidepressant work better by correcting folate levels in the brain. Correcting suboptimal folate levels in the brain is necessary to boost the production of these neurotransmitters (serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine) which may improve the way your antidepressant works.
